PBX Technician (one year contract, renewable)

 

Position Overview:
This is a one year, renewable contract to provide break fix maintenance services with on site technical resources 24 X 7 X 365 at our client's site in North Bay, Ontario. Secret level II security clearance is a must.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all communications with customer regarding database information, specific business requirements, product/application configuration, expectations and due dates, issues relating to installation, maintenance, or JCO/CSO activities .
  • Determine/recommend specific Telco requirements, order Telco, follow-up on due dates, coordinate with third-party Telco coordinators
  • Partner with internal customers (Technicians, Service Specialists, Project Supervisors, Sales Representatives, and Product Engineers) to ensure that customer satisfaction objectives are achieved including:  installation, technical support, training, and follow-up
  • Maintain existing documentation relating to project (database information, job book, call flow diagrams, network designs, floor plans, cabling schemes, etc.)

Required Knowledge:

 

  • Knowledge of Option 11, 61 and 81 Nortel PBX systems
  • Knowledge of VOIP
  • Working knowledge of ISDN, T1/T3, ATM, private line data, and channel banks.

 

Experience in any of the following areas would be an asset:

  • Cisco and Nortel LAN/WAN networks
  • CSU/DSUs and modems
  • T1, Fractional T1, Frame Relay, ATM, xDSL and ISDN services
  • Cat 5e/6 and fibre structured cabling systems
  • PABX interfacing and signalling
  • Installation, maintenance, or testing /analysis of network elements, process and ensure completion of all customers initiated and internally initiated change requests to ensure SLA is met.  Approve, notify customers and manage all approved network change activities

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaboratively with other departments

  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems and situations, take appropriate action implement solutions or escalate as required
  • Maintain a high level of performance under the pressure of time constraints and a fast paced changing environment.
  • Commit to continuous learning. Demonstrate the ability to learn and apply learned skills to related situations and complete and pass all related exams
  • Excellent verbal and written English communications skills are a pre-requisite.
    Required Professional Designation/Certification:
    Cisco CCNA and/or CCNP and/or other Cisco career certifications would be an asset.
     

Required Experience:
Minimum 5 years experience
