Electronic Equipment Recovery, Recycling, and Disposal

Promoting proper use and disposal of supplies

Unisys Corporation is committed to complying with all governmental legislative and regulatory requirements for providing environmentally sound recovery, recycling, and disposal of customer end-of-life Unisys branded electrical and electronic equipment. Many parts from end-of-life recovered equipment are refurbished for future reuse as replacement parts, while the remaining materials are delivered to end-of -life electronic equipment recyclers for disposal.

The Unisys End-of-Life Product Disposition Program has been active since 1997, which was well in advance of EU regulatory directives. From the inception of the program, over 45.7 million pounds of obsolete products have been recovered internally along with products from clients globally and processed through recycling partners and third-party facilities. In 2022, approximately 200,000 pounds of end-of-life electronics were collected as a part of this program.

Unisys utilizes only environmentally sound disposition partners. In the European Union, these partners are conducting business in a manner that is consistent with the requirements of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive and related Member State legislation.

Whenever possible, Unisys promotes recycling opportunities, reduces waste generation and encourages the wise use of supplies and materials during and after their useful life. In our commitment to a cleaner environment, Unisys is involved in a variety of product-focused initiatives that help us, our customers, and the planet.

Industrial Batteries

As an importer of industrial batteries under the Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations 2009, Unisys imports Lithium Ion batteries contained in equipment and spare parts. We are obliged to take back free of charge, waste industrial batteries supplied to our clients for treatment and recycling. We are required to do this in any calendar year we place new industrial batteries on the market. If any of our clients, or in certain cases other end users, require us to take back Industrial batteries, they should contact us at the contact information below. We will arrange for the necessary return, proper treatment and recycling of the waste industrial batteries.
